SteamPunk was conceived by the desire to spring an instant connection amidst a group which already has shared interests, but they do not know so yet. In the rising Video Game Club of the University of Notre Dame, 2025 President Carlos Basurto, Secretary Daniel Johan, and Member Soo Kim worked together to create a chatbot that can seamlessly bridge the gap between two of the services that are most in-demand by gamers: Discord and Steam.

SteamPunk is an interactive web application hosted on a remote machine, facing the users in the familiar Discord Bot text format. With a quintessential set of text commands, gamers can remotely and effortlessly query the Steam API to elegantly present the game activity, history, and library of themselves and other users in the server within Discord. This allows for members with similar gaming habits to notice one another, compete, and grow a genuine community driven by mutual passion.

SteamPunk is an open-source, collaborative project whose inception was always set to leave a product that can be expanded by future generations of the Video Game Club of Notre Dame, as well as by members of the open-source community.

To install and run the program, simply visit the GitHub repository, download the files and set up the corresponding secrets. Further information can be found in the README.
All users should feel free to modify the program such as to best fit the needs of their Discord server, and all cool debugging, feature implementation, or expansions should be submitted as a pull request or otherwise forwarded to ndcvg@nd.edu.
